31-Year-Old Killed in Two-Car Crash at N 60th St & W Hampton Ave

Milwaukee, WI (April 21, 2026) – A 31-year-old person died after a two-vehicle crash Sunday, April 19, around 10:30 p.m. at North 60th Street and West Hampton Avenue in Milwaukee. Police reported that a northbound driver struck another car as it moved through the intersection.

Witnesses nearby described hearing a loud impact at the time of the collision. Surveillance video showed the moment the white car hit the second vehicle, which soon caught fire after the crash.

Bystanders rushed to help and tried to open the damaged vehicle. When the doors would not open, they broke a window and worked for several minutes to remove the victim. Others grabbed a fire extinguisher to try to control the flames before emergency units arrived.

Paramedics transported the injured person from the second vehicle to a hospital, where they later died. Police took the 26-year-old driver of the first car into custody at the scene. Authorities have not yet announced formal charges.

Investigators are reviewing the events leading up to the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.

Legal Options Families Have After a Fatal Car Accident in Wisconsin

Families may have legal options after a fatal car accident in Wisconsin, including the ability to file a wrongful death claim. These claims can help address financial and other losses tied to the death of a loved one. Fatal crashes at busy intersections often raise questions about driver behavior, road conditions, and responsibility.

A fatal car accident can create sudden financial challenges for families. Costs may include medical bills from emergency care, funeral expenses, and the loss of future income.

Some families may need to manage property damage or other related costs. Keeping records of these expenses can help when reviewing available options.

A Milwaukee personal injury lawyer can review crash reports, witness statements, and video evidence to help explain how liability may apply. They can also assist with communication between insurance companies and guide families through the wrongful death claim process.

In some cases, families may be eligible to seek compensation for losses connected to the accident, depending on the details.

Wisconsin law sets deadlines for filing wrongful death claims, so timing can be important. Gathering documents early and understanding how the process works can help families stay organized. Legal guidance can clarify what steps to take and what information may be needed to move forward.
