Car Accidents in Whitewater and Walworth County
Car accidents in Whitewater and throughout Walworth County happen more often than many people realize. Busy intersections and highways, such as Hwy 12, see heavy truck and passenger vehicle traffic. When a smaller car collides with a large dump truck, the outcome can be devastating. The sheer size and weight of a commercial truck often lead to severe or life-threatening injuries for car occupants.
Victims of truck-related crashes may suffer broken bones, spinal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries. These injuries often require long hospital stays and months of rehabilitation. Families may also face financial struggles as medical bills grow and victims are unable to work.
In many cases, these crashes occur due to factors like speeding, distracted driving, fatigue, or mechanical failures. Truck drivers also face tight schedules, which can increase the risk of fatigue-related accidents. Even when drivers follow the rules, accidents can still happen if vehicles are not properly maintained.
Wisconsin law allows injury victims to seek compensation for their losses. Damages may include coverage for hospital bills, lost income, rehabilitation costs, and pain and suffering. However, the process of filing a claim after a truck accident can be complex. Large trucking companies and their insurers often have legal teams working to limit payouts. Having an experienced personal injury attorney on your side can make a critical difference.
