Milwaukee, WI (September 1, 2025) – A man was killed and a woman was left on life support after an ATV collided with a car on Saturday, August 30, near 28th Street and Concordia Avenue.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the crash happened shortly after midnight. Officers said a 45-year-old man, identified as Victor Ramos, was driving the ATV when it struck a car. Ramos was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The passenger on the ATV, 36-year-old Brittney Harshman, was critically hurt. She was transported to Froedtert Hospital and remains on life support. Family members shared that she is a mother of two, and they plan to donate her organs once she is removed from life support.
Investigators said the 23-year-old driver of the car was arrested at the scene. Authorities noted that the driver may have been speeding and did not have a valid license. Police also reported that neither Ramos nor Harshman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Detectives and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office continue to review the circumstances of the collision.
We extend our heartfelt wishes for recovery to those affected by this tragic incident.
ATV and Vehicle Collisions in Milwaukee
ATV crashes are not uncommon in Milwaukee, despite the fact that riding ATVs on city streets is illegal. When an ATV collides with a vehicle, the injuries are often catastrophic due to the lack of protection for riders. Helmets and safety gear can help reduce the severity of injuries, but many riders still go without them.
Data shows that crashes involving ATVs are particularly deadly when they occur in urban areas. Cars and trucks are much larger and heavier, leaving ATV riders vulnerable. In Wisconsin, law enforcement has raised concerns about the rising use of ATVs on public roads, warning that they are not designed for city traffic.
When accidents like this happen, families are left facing not only the grief of losing a loved one but also significant financial burdens. Medical bills, funeral costs, and loss of income can create lasting hardship. A personal injury or wrongful death claim can help families recover compensation for these damages. Depending on the circumstances, compensation may include hospital expenses, rehabilitation, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
In cases where a driver was speeding, impaired, or unlicensed, victims may also have a stronger case for holding the negligent driver accountable. A skilled Milwaukee personal injury lawyer can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and fight for fair compensation on behalf of victims and their families.
