Milwaukee, WI (June 26, 2025) – Three people were hurt Monday night, June 23, following a police chase that ended in a violent crash near Tiefenthaler Park, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
The incident began just before 10 p.m. near S 5th St and W Becher St. Officers tried to stop a vehicle for a registration violation, but the driver refused to pull over and a pursuit started.
The chase came to a sudden end at N 27th St and W Galena St when the fleeing vehicle struck another car. The force of the crash caused both cars to overturn.
Police said the 17-year-old male driver of the fleeing vehicle ran from the scene but was quickly arrested. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 20-year-old passenger in the same car was ejected during the crash and suffered serious injuries. The 22-year-old driver of the second car was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said the suspect’s vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers also recovered a gun and suspected illegal drugs from the car.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review charges related to the crash and the recovered items. The investigation is ongoing. Our thoughts are with all those hurt in this serious crash, and we wish them a full recovery.
Car Accidents Involving Police Chases in Milwaukee
High-speed chases often lead to crashes that seriously injure innocent people. In Milwaukee, accidents linked to police pursuits are not rare. These crashes can involve stolen vehicles, fleeing suspects, and unexpected collisions with unsuspecting drivers or pedestrians. When a vehicle speeds through city streets in an attempt to avoid arrest, the risk to everyone nearby rises sharply.
Victims of these accidents may face long hospital stays, lost income, and lasting pain. Recovering from a crash like this—especially when it involves a rollover or ejection—can take months or even years. Serious injuries such as head trauma, spinal damage, and internal bleeding are common in high-impact crashes. Victims may also suffer emotional trauma from the sudden and violent nature of the incident.
When police pursuits lead to injuries, victims need to understand their legal rights. Depending on the facts, the fleeing driver can be held liable. In some cases, it may also be possible to investigate whether the pursuit was handled properly by law enforcement. A skilled personal injury attorney can help identify all parties that may share responsibility and pursue full compensation.
Compensation in these cases may include money for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and future care needs. Legal professionals often work with accident experts to rebuild the crash scene, determine fault, and build a strong case for their clients.
