Man in 20s Hurt in Pedestrian Crash Near 60th St

Milwaukee, WI (September 22, 2026) – On Saturday night, September 19, a man in his 20s was hurt after a vehicle struck him while he was crossing 60th Street near Spokane in a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was walking within the crosswalk when the vehicle struck him, according to initial reports. He remained conscious as emergency units arrived and began treatment right away.

He was found with a head wound, which responders were able to keep under control before he was taken to a hospital for further care.

Authorities continue the investigation.

We hope for a full and speedy recovery for the man involved.

Who Is at Fault When a Driver Hits a Pedestrian in a Milwaukee, WI Crosswalk?

Wisconsin law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians who are lawfully crossing within a marked crosswalk. When a driver fails to stop or yield and strikes someone crossing at a designated point, that failure usually points toward driver negligence. Whether a driver had enough time and visibility to stop safely is usually central to how fault gets determined.

To determine fault, Wisconsin follows a modified comparative negligence rule. Under this rule, if a person is found more than fifty percent at fault for an accident, they cannot recover compensation. If their share of fault is smaller than fifty percent, they can recover compensation, though it is reduced by their share of fault.

It is usual that insurance adjusters try to argue that a pedestrian was partly to blame, even when the driver failed to yield. This makes how fault is divided especially important since it can significantly affect the outcome of a claim.

Establishing what happened at a crosswalk typically depends on evidence gathered quickly, such as traffic camera footage, witness accounts, and the police report. A personal injury lawyer in Milwaukee can help track down this type of evidence before it becomes harder to obtain.
